BC Association of Math Teachers Conference- Times Table theme

I am excited to be speaker and exhibitor at the BC AMT tomorrow 25th Oct in Surrey.

The main theme to tomorrow’s talk is once again how having a grip on  Times Tables is so, so important to being able to cope with all the other math concepts a student faces from Grade 4 onwards. The best way to show an example of why, is to look at doing long or short division… if you are dividing a number (e.g. 4) in to a larger number (e.g. 7769), then doing the actual dividing part is obviously the main objective… BUT IF THE 4X TABLE IS NOT STRONG, THEN THE DIVISION PROCESS FEELS FRUSTRATING AND UNACHIEVEABLE!

This talk is only my third event where I am speaking to a large body of teachers- so wish me luck.

More about impact of Times Tables on other math concepts next week….
